Buying airtime on the go
Customers can top up their airtime using money in their TagPay wallet by simply calling a short (free) number and following verbal instructions. Customers indicate the amount of airtime they wish to purchase and confirm this request by entering their TagPay pass code. Their TagPay account is debited and the airtime is automatically loaded to their phone.
Buying airtime on the web
Customers can purchase airtime on the internet using TagPay. This can be done through the TagPay website or on the telecom operator’s website using TagPay during checkout.
When buying airtime on the web, the customer is invited to enter his mobile phone number and pass code on the vendor web page. TagPay instantly calls the customer’s mobile phone sends an NSDT™ chirp through the webpage. When heard by the customer’s phone the transaction is completed—the customer’s airtime is topped up and their TagPay account is debited accordingly.
Buying airtime with an agent
Airtime vendors can replace scratch cards or USSD operations with a low-cost TagPay terminal. This terminal can be used to load airtime for various mobile network operators.
The terminal is activated by the airtime vendor’s own mobile phone using an NSDT™ authentication procedure. This ensures that only the vendor is able to sell the airtime.
To sell airtime the vendor:
- Selects the mobile network operator that the customer wishes to recharge minutes from.
- Enters the quantity of airtime to be reloaded and the payment method (cash or TagPay).
- Enters the customer’s phone number and pass code if the customer is paying by TagPay. The vendor then clicks to validate the transaction.
- TagPay calls the customer’s phone and to receive the airtime the customer simply answers this call and brings his or her phone towards the vendor’s TagPay terminal.
Once the customer’s phone hears the NSDT™ chirp through vendor’s terminal the airtime sale is completed and the minutes are loaded to the customer’s account.
